Mannum is an historic town on the west bank of the Murray River in South Australia, 84 kilometres east of Adelaide.
Mannum was known as an important river port. Today Mannum is a great holiday destination on the Murray River with plenty of green parks and numerous river-based attractions. Mannum caters for a variety of water activities – paddle steamer cruises, kayaking, wildlife sanctuaries , both fishing and bird watching.
How was Mannum named?
Prior to settlers moving to Mannum, the area was inhabited by the Narraltie Aboriginal tribe who lived in wurleys along the river. The name “Mannum”, is one given by the local Aboriginal community as “the place of many ducks”.
The Mannum Progress Association is run by a group of volunteers with a variety of skills.
The Mannum Progress association networks with businesses, individuals and other clubs and associations within the Mid Murray Council area. We bring concerns, issues and positives to the Mid Murray Council and its representatives.

WHAT EVENTS ARE IN MANNUM?
The SA Truck and Ute Show is One of Mannum’s biggest annual events
The first SA Truck and Ute Show was held on the Sunday of the June 2012 long weekend as a boost for local businesses during the quiet winter period.
Run as a community fundraiser and creating an economic boost in the off-peak winter season, the event has contributed thousands of dollars back into local projects within the town, providing opportunities for local community groups to reinvest back into the community.
The Mannum Christmas Pageant is held on the first Saturday in December. The kids have a fabulous time, excitement builds when Santa arrives. Plenty to do and see. At the end of the event, a fireworks display brings awe to the faces of the children.
New Years Eve is the ultimate fireworks event, held in the middle of the river, fireworks shoot off the barge, lighting up the sky. People from all over come to see this display. The fireworks display can be seen from many spots in Mannum.
